IDUL FITRI CELEBRATION
Last April 23, 2023 Hope Workers’ Center held an “Idul Fitri” Celebration with Indonesian migrants, students and immigrants. It was a special day for our Muslim brothers and sisters who celebrate this moment of liberation, this holy and glorious moment, to live in holiness.
“Ramadhan” or as it is known in the Muslim word being “Idul Fitri” or “Lebaran” in Indonesian is a celebration of victory. It is a Spiritual victory over the power of evil that has been won throughout the season of fasting. This is a celebration filled with joy and fellowship. That is why during Ramadhan those who celebrate it open their hearts and homes for friends, relatives, neighbors, and family members to celebrate together as a family. This festivity is also marked with the abundance of food and different kinds of menu which signify the fundamental meaning of Ramadhan itself.
They celebrate this victory day not only with fellow Muslims but also with other fellow believers. Just like now they are gathering to rejoice together and celebrate this victory day as one family in this overseas land. Even though they are far from their families, they are still able to celebrate “Idul Fitri” with Hope Workers Center which for them is their second family in this overseas land. Enjoying together through games, singing and dancing as well as educational assistance on the rights of migrant workers.
As we celebrate this Ramadhan today as a family here at Hope Workers’ Center, may the spirit of God continue to inspire us and we too may be open to this promptings and movement to work together to create a common home for all where every one finds a space to grow and live in justice, peace and equality as a human person. May all of us who celebrate this Ramadhan continue to live in the spirit of victory and freedom as sons and daughters of the highest God.
